Stress can be a good thing if it helps us to achieve a certain goal, to reach our potential, or if it helps us cope with an emergency situation. But when stress becomes too frequent, too long-lasting, or too intense, it can become harmful. It can damage our bodies and our brains, and make us more susceptible to illness. It can make us less productive, and make us feel unhappy and overwhelmed. Stress has both physical and mental effects. Having too much stress can lead to trouble sleeping, digestive issues, headaches, and more. It can make your brain less efficient, since it uses up a lot of energy. Stress can change the way your brain works, making you less creative and less able to deal with problems. It can also lead to long-term health problems like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, and even mental disorders like anxiety and depression.
